City of Lee's Summit Adopts Multiple Enterprise Applications from Lawson
ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb 24, 2011 -- Lawson Software (Nasdaq: LWSN) today announced that the City of Lee's Summit, Mo., has selected Lawson for a multi-application deployment of the Lawson Human Capital Management, Financial Management and Supply Chain Management suites, along with user productivity tools including Lawson Business Intelligence. These new applications will help reduce paper-intensive processes, provide enhanced decision support and help expand the City's ability to serve citizens in an efficient and timely manner. The contract was signed during Lawson's second quarter of fiscal year 2011, which ended Nov. 30, 2010. Lawson Professional Services will provide implementation services for the project rollout.
The City of Lee's Summit, located in Jackson and Cass Counties, is home to more than 92,000 residents and has an annual budget of approximately $159 million. It has been named twice by Money Magazine as one of the "Best Places to Live in America" and by Businessweek magazine as one of the 2010 fastest growing cities in America. The Lawson solutions will replace the city's aging legacy IT applications with a more efficient enterprise-wide system of technologies and business management processes to better serve the community.
"Implementing a modern technology system has been one of our city's major strategic goals to help increase the efficiency of our operations and better serve our community," said Randy Dickey, chief technology officer, City of Lee's Summit. "The deployment of the Lawson applications will help improve workflow efficiency, transparency and knowledge sharing city-wide. We chose Lawson because of the depth and proven functionality of its software applications as well as Lawson's strong public sector customer base."
Specifically, this project will bring together core Lawson business and financial applications, as well as productivity tools, including:
- The Lawson Human Resource Management suite and Payroll application, to help reduce the time, effort and expense city authorities need to spend on day-to-day administrative tasks.
- Lawson Financial Management, which will help the city's finance and budget departments more efficiently allocate and track available funds, gauge financial performance and help increase budgeting and reporting transparency across multiple departments.
- Supply Chain Management, which includes the Procurement solution, to help improve supply chain visibility and operational cost control for procurement, resource allocation, capacity planning and other operations.
- Lawson Business Intelligence, which will help improve overall effectiveness and accountability by helping provide timely, accurate information to city personnel from a centralized system.
"Achieving efficiencies in government operations is critical in the current economic environment," said Brian Murphy, general manager, Lawson Public Sector. "The City of Lee's Summit's upgrade to a new system will not only help support more accurate reporting and greater transparency across all functional business areas but further improve current and future service levels for city residents as well."
